Night Vision
REINDALEN, SVALBARD
NOVEMBER 2024
Over two weeks in November we walked skied through twenty-four
hours of darkness in the Polar Night looking for Svalbard reindeer.
The Svalbard Reindeer Project focuses on a small reindeer subspecies endemic to Svalbard and explores spatial ecology and plant-herbivore interactions. This work contributes to a three-decade-long tracking project in Reindalen. Using GPS data and on-site assessments, it aims to understand each reindeer’s story and assess the population’s resilience to the changing tundra landscape.
